Curse Of Feanor cover

#1 Post by residentour » 21 May 2011 14:56

Here is one of the most complex song of BG. I now understand why BG don't play at concerts

Hope you enjoy.

Awesome, great job man, especially like the fact that you didn´t copy them note for note exactly, but interpreted the whole thing more freely. Really cool :D

I really like it also...just wished it had some vocals though.

This is one song I have got to learn how to play! Great job on this cover!

the problem of this song for playing it live is the vocal parts.it's hard to make high and low parts in a way that it sounds good
...i don't think that the rest of the band can't play these things.

Thanks guys for the comments.

Vocals are hard at this song but guitars are multi layered. I can't imagine playing with one rhythm and one lead guitar only. I have used 6 pairs of
guitars and beleive there are more :) . Of course all BG songs have layers but this has 3 times and they are not basic 1 Octave lower notes as others.

No it's really easy to do something with just 2 guitars..we were playing this song a lot 3-4 years ago and i remember all the details..
there's really no problem on the instruments when you have 2 guitars and a synth...
there was a problem with thomen in that song and now that they got fred i think the problem is Hansi's.

So there is no problem with vocals either since you and other bands play with vocals :D .

I would play the guitar by jumping lead parts to layer's part ( like almost all youtube covers do) but I don't prefer.
Also I haven't done a live gig so I may be totally wrong

residentour, would you mind if I recorded some vocals on your cover? Here is a song from my band so you know what I sound like, I LOVE Blind Guardian and your recording is pretty sweet! :D

@ Alpha Penguin: Of course you are totally free to use all my covers (Download option is open for all) . I have been looking for vocals for some time. :D . Also I would like to get a copy of all dry vocal tracks if possible , I 'll try to process vocals myself either.
Don't forget to inform me about the results :)

Fantastic! I'll be recording them within two weeks or so. I'll do my best to get all files for you as well, this is exciting! You've done so many songs, I don't know which I should record!! haha!

I'm tempted to do "Curse of Feanor" with only one lead vocal track and two backup vocal tracks to see roughly what this song would sound like if Blind Guardian played it live for once! haha :P

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_69xu3qGUyg <----Here's a full instrumental cover I did for the song "Curse Of Feanor". I also did the mixing/mastering myself (as this is the aspect of music that I'm more into compared to performing). I'm searching for someone to record vocals for this one, so if you're interested, and willing to do a proffesional job about it, let me know!
