I'm old.
You know how old people have that old smell on them? Like, you know, they stink of impending death, how they smell like a corpse for years before they actually become one? At what age do you start to get that old smell, I wonder...

And here I was happy to see you post again.
I'm turning thirty this year, so you're not the only fat, old, bald guy with literature semi-ambitions stuck in some mire of "oh, well".

They say that there's a broken light for every heart on Broadway.
They say that life's a game, then they take the board away.
They give you masks and costumes and an outline of the story
Then leave you all to improvise their vicious cabaret...
Still the goddamn Batman.

Hm... 30 is also getting dangerously close for me. I'm turning 28 in a week... even though I still don't feel I really finished 'growing up' yet.

You charge each other for the time and breath it takes to say 'good morning',
But the truth is slowly dawning -- things are getting out of hand,
We all pursue our shattered dreams along the roads to our own ruin --
Watch our empires sink and wash away like castles made of sand.
And so cast off the lies that are your lives and find the truth within. -- Martin Walkyier
Also, Balrogs have wings.

Happy corpse-day, Jackson. I'm only going to be 37 the end of this month, so I'll alwasy have that "Well, at least I'm not as old as Jackson" line to convince myself I'm young still.
The older I get, the more importance the lyrics of Helloween's "March Of Time" have.

On the other hand, when I want to feel young, I just remind myself that Ronnie James Dio is 64 or 65 now, and was damn near my age when he recorded "Holy Diver".

I'm old too! I'll be 32 this month. You either get older or die, no other way around it. I've had too many near death experiences to complain about getting old. Besides, there's nothing like metal to keep a person young and pissed off!

It's not so much the number 39 or anything psychological as it is the fact that my body seems to be malfunctioning and breaking all the time now. I think the warranty's up on this thing. Damn, but the future do look grim.
Strange you should show up just now since I was gonna mention you in this topic. Heh. Like once you turned 40 you had to leave and never come back to this forum. Kind of a Logan's Run thing.Old Wolf wrote:Yes, you are.

Probably around the time they give you a cake that says "Isn't it nifty that dad's 50" on it.Old Wolf wrote:I'll let you know.

Fortunetly I've always been in such a poor shape that I never really peaked. There's only one possible direction: upwards!Minor69er wrote:Ah yes, you were at your peak and now you are going downhill. After 25, you'll only fall further and further from your peak physical condition.

I'll excuse you for that remark because you're still so young and inexperienced. In most tribes it's the old that rule, because they know more. You young people will just do all the physical work and reproduce. I'm not interested in those things anymore.zhakke wrote:You are too old to rule the city of Jyväskylä, it's time for you to pass the torch to me!(Related)

Well, as long as you can still game, you're okay, right? I mean, you're married, so it's not as if you need to be a stud-man to attract chicks. I'm sure your wife will still be seen in public with you no matter how old and decrepit you get.Weighted Companion Mule wrote:Well, I have to be careful about that. I'm on the lam. So, as long as you can still game, everything is right with the world. And take this into consideration... before my grandpa died, he had a girlfriend that games all the time. She's 68 now, and still games every day. And mostly on the GBA abd DS too! I don't even think I could play that long on the DS.

The answer is simple, you just keep on trying till you run out of cake, that's really all there is to it.

It's entirely possible Jackson could liove to be 90, and outlive you! My neighbor lived to be 103, and outlived all her 4 of his kids that were 25-30 years younger than him.
