The weather is looking perfect. A wee bit cold for the time of the year, which is excellent for a festival: means we'll enjoy it without burning to death like in 2003. And.. no rain!

i'd prefer some more sun and a few degrees more - but hey, no rain...and not really cold...that's already more than i could wish for

Well, 24 degrees can feel quite warm in Wacken. Surely 30 degrees is great weather also, but on a festival it tends to be too much. Sure you'll see more boobies, but at the same time you have to watch your drinking have some water every now and then and perhaps see some shade. We had this weather in 2008 and it was great. :)

Oh, and the Dutch get really smelly too. :P

I prefer this. Warm, some Sun every now and then, and bier all day long. 8)

Because of the confusion about the theme glass bottles we have done a little update about this subject:
Because of the expensive disposal it´s no more allowed to take glas bottles from the village Wacken and the surrounding villages through for example the visitors alley to the festival and camping area. We hope for your understanding.
IT IS STILL ALLOWED to bring bottles to the camping area by car because as rule theses bottles were picked up again and taken back by the audience. Same goes for mustard-, barbecue glasses and so on. Vehicles will not be frisked. As like never before in 21 years!

Okay, I know that not every German is great at English, but this is just amazing.
Also metal fans become tired! Here is our solution:

The SITBOX Rockstool!

At this juncture it bargains about an easy build up millboard stool styled in a cool W:O:A branding.

It´s out of millborad but stong like a bear!... that means a bear with up to 200 kilos can comfortably sit on it without breaking it.

That makes the stool become the ultimat rock stool!

Equipped with strong plastic film as attachment neither rain nor mud are able to harm it.

Also as collectors item it´s highly demanded and we offer 3 exclusive Wacken motives.

After the festival has ended the rockstool will remember you for a long time about the great time and may not be missing in any home. Practical for adjusting you motorcycle, as party seat, to help you climbing up somewhere...

Get your ultimate event article - You can say: WE WERE THE FIRST ONES!

... because we will reach a new festival age!!! Price only 5€ /per article.
Only while stock lasts!

An age were you have not to cool your heels and also have not to sit in the dirt when it´s getting muddy!

Get your rockstool at the merchandise trucks & at the supermarkets / merchandise stands on the festival ground!

The weather report is lookingh nice. At the beginning of this week it was looking pretty bad, max 18 without any sun, mat at the moment, it looks quite good:
Mittwoch
04.08.2010
leichter Regen - Schauer
12 / 21°C

Donnerstag
05.08.2010
sonnig
14 / 21°C

Freitag
06.08.2010
sonnig
15 / 22°C

Samstag
07.08.2010
leicht bewölkt
16 / 21°C
This might just be like 2007 where it was pretty bad right before Wacken, but great once we got there. Just like 2007 there will be quite some rain between now and wednesday.

I know that is is fairly pointless, yes, but so is visiting the WOA-site each day to check the news - which I also do. It's how I get in the mood.

Still the same as yesterday, btw: first rainy, then cloudy BUT sunny on Saturday.

Nope, no idea. Most likely we'll just drive around trying to push as far away to the front as possible. After 2008 we're all quite tired of walking.

Do you have a way to get in touch with anybody?

Wednesday is ok.... that's the day that we're mainly sitting in the tent, drinking bier. I just hope that this won't be like 2005 (the year that actually prompted us to bring partytents in 2006). It'll be okay for the days, as there's not really anything interesting playing before 6 pm, but I wouldn't want to drink bier in the rain, it makes it taste like Heineken.

That said: weather in Wacken is usually more favourable than initial weather reports indicate.

Yeah, Daan is bringing the partytents again. They're always nice to have, if it shines and especially when it rains. After all if there is constant rain like in 2005 there is practically nowhere to go.

And the group is not that small, about 17 ppl in total. It's not as big as 2006-2008, because a lot of the regular Dutchies are opting for other festivals. It's more like the early years of Wacken (2002-2005) with the hardcore Wacken-group as well as a number of friends.

So yeah, it's a bit smaller, but there's still continuity.

I'm kind of sick of festivals, to be honest, and I rather spend my vacation otherwise nowadays.

Besides, it's a friends wedding next weekend, so there wouldn't be time for the festival anyway.

I can understand that. Even though I'm certainly not bored of festivals, I can imagine how one gets to a point they aren't that attractive anymore.

Still, too bad that you aren't there. We'll drink a beer in your honor!

Amazing line-up. Just like 2009 this was another extremely well put together festivals, one of the best ever. Weather was great too. Now that it is over my body aches in places I didn't even know it could ache, but it was a great experience!

any complaints?
they offert everything one could ask for, i'd say
there were some improvements (earplugs for example) and only little "worsening" (no staff for the free toilets on the festival area, but that's not really a problem)
so, to make further improvements they'd have to train the staff better - and that's hard to do
there are still some idiots among the security and the a huge gap between the best and the worst staff members
and: there's also an immense discrepancy between the "no-tolerance-rule" and the sometimes applied no-control-handling
why do we have to discuss the metal stool or a tube of suncreme and others bring a rotten rabbit to the festival area?
(and to make things worse: idiotic attendants even thought it was funny and took pictures of it)

anyway: close to perfect

EDIT: too many typos

I don't have any.
It was a great festival! I am very happy that my first Wacken turned out to be so amazing!
The weather was perfect, small periods of rain and hot didn't bother me much.
All these great bands, meeting with Blind Guardian for the first time (it was nice to see so many BG fans) - that will be one of my best memories.
And since BG is confirmed for Wacken'2011, I am already looking forward to the next year's festival.
Just keep in mind, this world is sacred.
