Rediscovering Middle-Earth

#1 Post by DREAMASTER » 08 Aug 2009 16:06

For some time I have found many beautiful pictures from around the world and many of them remember me the world of Middle-Earth.

So I started to post for other ppl to enjoy them too. So now I would like to share with you too this passion of mine.

Changed with pics. It's easier

Middle-earth is all around us!

I just went through my photo archive, to see which ones would reflect Middle-earth the best way. The pictures are taken in The Netherlands, Germany, France, Scotland, Norway and Sweden – Northern and Western Europe, exactly the land Tolkien based Middle-earth on. And the Dead Marshes (first four pictures) are just about 15 minutes by bike from my home! Many of these pictures are not among the best I have made from a technical point of view, but to me they are all somehow special in the atmosphere they convey – which is, indeed, both the atmosphere of an unspoilt, pre-industrialized Europe, and (closely related to that, as anyone who read up a bit about Tolkien's background and views should know!) the atmosphere of Tolkien's Middle-earth.

You charge each other for the time and breath it takes to say 'good morning',
But the truth is slowly dawning -- things are getting out of hand,
We all pursue our shattered dreams along the roads to our own ruin --
Watch our empires sink and wash away like castles made of sand.
And so cast off the lies that are your lives and find the truth within.

Thanks. Now I feel even more depressed living in suburbia.

Seriously though, those pictures are all beautiful, and I suddenly find myself wanting to travel to where they were taken very badly.

Nice pics indeed! 14-17 down give me intense middle earth vibes. Right before the company gets to the mines of Moria, that section.

post your pics there and then copy the link to post pics in message boards.

You have to rezise the pics on your computer to max 800, to not affect much the thread layout.

The in the main page of the pics in photobucket, put the mouse over one of the pics and it will appear may links of the pic and one will be to post in message boards.

Hope have helped :)
