It means "does not equal". It's a simplified version of this: ≠.

Ahh, okey dokey. Thanks a million! Can always count on Blind Guardians know...stuff. And things. Google was uncooperative when I tried to search for it. Using my awesome powers of deduction, I figured =/= either meant "samey same" or "not samey same"...uh, yeah. Heh. So now I can safely incorporate =/= into my arsenal of internet writing symbology without fear of symbolizing the wrong thing. And think, just today I figured life was such a sick, bloated sphere of poison that it wasn't worth enduring another minute of it. And now I have this to keep me going. Things are looking up! Life =/= Hell...but it's damned close. Hah. See what I did there? Using my new thang thanks to the Blind Guardians. Thanks again. :)
