Avatar (the movie, not forum avatars)
Re: Avatar (the movie, not forum avatars)
Forgot to say that I watched it too, in 3D... the story was ok, but if it was released 10 years ago with the then technology, I would have been very unimpressed with it... done it this way and seen at the cinema with the help of the 3D (First time ever I saw a movie in 3D) it was a very nice and entertaining visual experience. Obviously the planet of Pandora stole the show, the forest and the nature and the floating mountains were amazing, and many scenes were breathtaking. The story itself was nothing you could not see it coming but all in all it was a fun movie to watch.

3D quality has definitely improved since the red and blue glasses

Nothing popped out though. Like, you know, the flying-machines, whatever you call them. Maybe if one of them popped out and threatened to hit you in the face, I would have liked it more. Also the 3D version had better color.

I hate 3D popping-out stuff. It's so cheesy and gimmicky. The more subtle effect is far better.Metal Fan wrote:Nothing popped out though. Like, you know, the flying-machines, whatever you call them. Anyway, they're already talking about a late summer 3D/IMAX3D rerelease.

Did you know if you turn the glasses upside down, all the stuff that should seem close up seems faraway and all things faraway seem close?

It was very nice story. I liked it a lot, despite the fact that it included many cliche. The graphics were very nice.
I watched it 2D only and it was ok. (the 3D here costs 15 euros, which I wouldn't give for any movie)

still yet to see it, really not missing anything

I love this movie.. To be honest it has got most of the things a person would like to see in a modern time movie.. The action sequences, romance, and sci-fi... Its such an awesome movie.. It turned out to be more cracking in 3D..

I bought it on Bluray, it was amazing. Some pretty unique ideas in that movie.

Your standards for "amazing" are probably too low.Skyclad wrote:it was amazing.
Oh, yes. Unique. Unique in the sense that they may have crammed more Hollywood movie clichés and kindergarten philosophy into one film than ever before. With blue monkey people, of course.Skyclad wrote:Some pretty unique ideas in that movie.

Next time Skyclad looks at this forum, he's gonna have so many nasty things to say to me.

The fact (yes, fact) that the overall plotline and characters of Avatar are an enormous bunch of clichés, does not mean that individual little elements in the film can't be original and unique.
I can't tell which ideas Skyclad meant, of course. I'm just saying.
