Make up a tour/festival with seven bands you'd want to see.
Not counting openers of course.
Iron Maiden
Blind Guardian
Opeth
Katatonia
Primordial
Jag Panzer
Sabaton
Such would be a dream come true for me.

Re: Make up a tour with seven bands you'd want to see.
Let's not make it a tour, but a travelling festival like Ozzfest. This would mean that in my imagination you would have beer, sun, women, tents, and the following bands:
Manowar
Iron Maiden
Blind Guardian
Iced Earth with Ripper
Onkel Tom
Savatage
Megadeth
Manowar
Iron Maiden
Blind Guardian
Iced Earth with Ripper
Onkel Tom
Savatage
Megadeth

Re: Make up a tour/festival with seven bands you'd want to s
Ideally i'd prolly put something like this together:
(headliner down to starter)
Blind Guardian (135 min)
Savatage (110 min)
Riverside (90 min)
Kamelot (75 min)
Pagan's Mind (75 min)
Banco del muto soccorso (75 min)
Lazuli (60 min)
Which means that on one stage, you'd have a great festival from about 13.00 untill somewhere between 2 and 3 am.
On two stages, you'd have a great festival from about 14.00 untill between 1 and 2 am.
giving some room for playing a tad longer than planned.

Decending from favourite to least favourite:
Rammstein
HammerFall
Blind Guardian
Sabaton
Rhapsody
Sonata Arctica
Kamelot
Normally I would add ToTo, but since they're not metal at all and they don't exist anymore, they don't really fit in with the others.

Eläkeläiset ("aftershow-party")
Judas Priest (never seen'em so far - it's a shame!)
Avantasia (who know's if they'll ever play live again?)
Sanctuary (new album...new tour?)
Wuthering Heights (they tour even less than falconer)
Lost Horizon (who knows what they are worth anymore...once they finally find a new singer)
Steel Attack (they're back in their original line-up playing only songs from the first two records)

Whoo, MarchOfTime-Fest 2010!!!!!
1. Symphony X
2. Blind Guardian
3. Arjen A. Lucassen w/ Either Star One, or by some magical alignment of the heavens, his entire guest cast from either Electric Castle or Universal Migrator (those 2 albums seem like they'd be fun live
)
4. Iron Maiden
5. Tarot (Metal on Ice 2.0!)
6. Avantasia
7. Devin Townsend (along with Anneke Van Giersenbergen from Addicted!), maybe bring Ziltoid up on Stage for good measure.
End the festival with SYL's "Satan's Ice Cream Truck" and Herman the Planet Smasher
It'll be Like Power-Prog USA but with 10x the Epic

Re: Make up a tour/festival with seven bands you'd want to s
Not a favourite bands list here, but more bands that would combine nicely:
1. Dream Theater
2. Transatlantic (Portnoy stays)
3. Neal Morse (Morse and Portnoy stay)
4. Spock´s Beard [reunited] (Morse stays)
---break---
5. Iced Earth
6. Demons&Wizards (Schaffer stays)
7. Blind Guardian (Hansi stays)
The cool thing would be, that within the two groups, at least one musician would stay on stage and the others being replaced, so you would have a nice continuity.

I find it kind of sad

Re: Make up a tour/festival with seven bands you'd want to s
I would never sit through seven bands. Jeesus-pleezus. Booooring.
I would, however, like Jethro Tull to perform seven songs for me in my bathroom. It has good acoustics, and you don't have to walk far to pee.

Off the top of my head here's what I'd like to see, though some might be unrealistic.
Blind Guardian
Sigh
Manegarm
Absu
Mondstille
Wintersun
Gallowbraid
I tried to pick ones which I like most of the discography of. So I left off some bands which may have some great albums, but may not be consistent in my eyes. Also I'm unsure if all of these bands play live because one is a one man band, though some bands like that have special members who only perform with the main band member in live settings. This isn't supposed to be the most realistic set list.

Got to see Sodom and D.R.I. together in June in Montebello, QC. Short sets but at least saw two of them together.

My top 4 would without a doubt be:
Metallica
Blind Guardian
Iced Earth
Stratovarius
Then I'd currently add:
Serenity
Evil Invaders
The Wounded
These didn't make it:
Sabaton
Evile
Epica
Nightwish
Sonata Arctica
Amorphis
Powerwolf
Seven Kingdoms
Anathema
Therion
