you can't. that's the trick.

YEE-HAW MOTHERFUCKER!
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which
I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
it’s a very very...

some kind of running order is put online
good to see that there's a highlight on each day
TH: BG
FR: JP
SA: Avantasia
unfortunately, Eläkeläiset is playing on Saturday...at a time I'd usually seek sleep - I don't wanna drive home tired and with a hangover...

you prefer Rhapsody over Judas Priest? what's wrong with you?

it's going to be nice to see Rhapsody live again - I don't even remember when I saw'em the last time...must be about a decade ago...

i do remember when i last saw rhapsody.. that was 2001.. not an experience i'd like to revisit
Anyway, I have some concerns about BG's playing time, considering that the biggest whining voice in rock seems to be claiming the headliner spot on thursday. If BG plays only about an hour or an hour and 15 mins I might actually consider selling my ticket.. I donno yet.

Ozzy most likely doesn't wann perform for 2h anyway
I expect BG and Ozzy to each play 90-105 minutes between 2000 and 2400

And Blind Guardian on the Black Stage? wtf? well, the entire running order looks incredibly strange, so I'll just wait and see. 3 years of absence and I feel like I have no clue anymore

It's really sad that Blind Guardian won't play 2h set at the TM stage. It was a bad surprise for me, a strange decision of organisers. Also Rhapsody Of Fire won't be at the main stage unfortunately. Anyway, I think the festival will be fantastic. The closer august the harder is waiting. 38 days left!

Do they normally play a 2 hour set? I'm asking because in 2008 they weren't playing it. The most I've seen out of an opener was 90 minutes. That's what Iron Maiden, Avantasia, and Nightwish got in 2008.

Iron Maiden played 2 hours last year. I was hoping that Blind Guardian will be in their role this year, and Ozzy with Helloween in a role of Alice Cooper with Motley Crue - they played before Maiden. That would be quite logical for me.
Judas Priest got the enormous amount of time this year - 2 hours 15 minutes - I'm glad they will play so long.

btw, the tickets once more got more expensive: €150.-

hmmm, Metalcamp will be about the same time next year, so I guess that festival just became even more attractive.

Gotta admit though that this year I really felt that the general mood was waaaaay better than the last 2 years I attended ('07-'08) and eventhough there were 85000 people there, it didn't feel too crowded to me, it was always possible to reach a nice spot and there weren't too many crowdsurfers where I was standing. As a matter of fact, only during Priest I had to toss surfers away and even those were far less than I expected.

Crowdsurfers and squash made me to leave a good place in front of the scene during Blind Guardian's show. It was impossible to enjoy the concert in these conditions. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find a fine spot thereafter, the crowd was too tight. It spoiled my impression about the concert. Anyway, it was a f*cking great festival. Hope to see BG soon again in more favorable conditions.

We managed to reach a spot in the second row which I had never thought possible and there I was surrounded by a bunch of real nice people, so I didn't mind being almost squeezed from all sides and I didn't mind the crowdsufers and being distracted from the concert - I just enjoyed every single minute!!!
The only incident that was somehow disturbing was during "wheel of time" when a really strange guy appeared and tried to get past us to the front. I don't think he was drunk, but he had an empty expression in his eyes, he wasn't cheering or singing, he was just moving his hands in a strange nervous way and at places where they shouldn't be... But all together we managed to keep him under control...

So come on people, bring on the pictures !
Dreamland turned to realland and we faced a new frontier
We lost the world
Sometimes we hold it but it's slipping away
When we add reality it doesn't taste like our dream

This is from where I watched BG's show

Surrounded mostly by very passive people

I'd better stay in front of the stage, even if I wouldn't see anything from there and was smashed by the crowd.

we didn't even see the stage - we were right behind the big screen
but with a great bunch of people around us, it didn't matter - we enjoyed it big time \m/

My first (and probably only) Wacken was good for me. But those crowdsurfers... one of them landed on my sister's neck, so I pulled the guy up by his arm, a bit too rough to be healthy. I feel sorry for it. A little bit.
At the Avantasia show we managed to send a few crowdsurfers back. It took me till the end of the festival to get used to them.
